I Miss My Home (07/08 Sessions) by Oli Rockberger

Pianist and Singer/Songwriter Oli Rockberger is a B.M graduate of Boston's Berklee College of Music, which he attended on a Full Tuition Scholarship as a Professional Music Major (Performance & Composition Focus). At Berklee Oli had the opportunity to study with world renowned faculty including jazz pianist Laszlo Gardony, and soul/jazz vocalist & saxophonist, Walter Beasley, who both became major influences on Oli's approach to music and teaching.

ON PLAYING:

Since moving to NYC, Oli has built a strong reputation as a solo artist and sideman both here and abroad with performance highlights including: London Jazz Festival, Barcelona Jazz Festival, Cotton Club Tokyo, John Mayer Craft Carrier Cruise, The Lincoln Center, NYC's JVC Jazz Festival and LA's KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic radio show. As a bandleader, he has shared festival bills with such notables as Jamie Cullum, Hiromi and Maceo Parker, and as a sideman, has worked with a wide range of artists spanning generations, and musical styles from jazz, fusion, pop/rock, through to gospel, R&B and hip/hop . Production credits include renowned electric bassist Tony Grey's 2nd album “Chasing Shadows” featuring an all star cast of jazz talent (Hiromi, Gregoire Maret, Lionel Loueke, Chris Dave) as well as Singer/Songwriter Cariad Harmon's debut album “Four Letters”, which received a 3 star review in “Rolling Stone”. Oli has 3 solo albums available on iTunes and is currently working on a new acoustic album, and a collaborative electronica project called “Mr Barrington” alongside prodigious drummer/producer Zach Danziger, and bassist Owen Biddle, from "The Roots".

ON TEACHING:

With his background as a pianist (jazz, soul, pop, R&B), vocalist, and songwriter, Oli's specialty is working with Singer/Songwriter-Pianists who are looking to enhance the performance of their original material, whilst developing their writing and arrangement concepts. He also works with pianists looking to develop their jazz improvisation skills, expand their harmonic vocabulary and session playing skills in the pop/rock vein. Oli creates a supportive and encouraging environment, whilst approaching each student as he/she comes.

In addition to his private teaching, Oli has presented numerous workshops and clinics abroad and in the US, including a Songwriting Masterclass at Steinway & Sons in Boston, MA.
